TallyPrime's inventory is more powerful than most people realize:

  • Stock Items: Create with units, opening balance, and godown
  • Godowns: Track stock across multiple locations (F11 > Enable Godowns)
  • Batches: For medicines, food, or perishables with expiry tracking
  • BOM: Bill of Materials for manufacturing businesses
  • Reorder Levels: Set minimum stock and get alerts
  • Valuation: FIFO, LIFO, or Average — pick your method

Pro tip: Use 'Stock Summary' report to see real-time inventory across all locations.

Multi-location tracking

Multi-godown tracking:

  1. 1Enable Godowns: F11 > Inventory Features > Maintain Multiple Godowns
  2. 2Create Godowns: Inventory Info > Godowns > Create
  3. 3Transfer Stock: Use Stock Journal (Alt+F7) for inter-godown transfers
  4. 4Reports: Stock Summary shows per-godown quantities

You can also see godown-wise balance in any stock item report.

Barcode integration

Barcode support in TallyPrime:

  1. 1Enable barcodes: F11 > Inventory Features > Enable Barcodes
  2. 2Assign barcode to each stock item
  3. 3During invoicing, scan the barcode — item auto-fills
  4. 4Supports Code 128, EAN-13, and QR codes
